Lesson Objectives
- How to size the rails
- How to mark out the tenon
- How to plan for material removal
- How to avoid twisting and misalignment
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to transfer the measurements of the mortise components cut in the previous lesson, to the rail components that will be cut in the next lesson.
This is a tricky one to get your head around, especially if it’s your first time cutting a tenon. In particular a haunched tenon. Especially when you’ve got the groove to contend with as well.
If you find you are getting really lost with this part of the build, I would suggest watching the next lesson where we begin cutting the tenons to fit the mortises. This way you will be able to see exactly which lines I am using and where the faces are due to fit.
Have you got the plans yet?
